The first half of this course emphasizes the study of functions with tables, graphs, verbal rules, and symbolic rules. Students will explore topics in solving linear equations and inequalities, Systems of Linear Functions Exponential Functions, Quadratic Functions, and topics in statistics.  Practical application through the incorporation of word problems is required in this course. The second half of this course is designed to build on algebraic concepts and provides further development of the concept of a function.  It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, imaginary and complex numbers, and a variety of functions including inverse, quadratic, polynomials, rational and power, exponential and logarithmic.  The content of this course is important for students’ success on the ACT, the SAT and college mathematics entrance exams. A graphing calculator is highly recommended. May be taken concurrently with Geometry.
