In many ways homeschooled high schoolers are at an advantage when it comes to crafting and formatting their resumes. Unlike traditionally educated college applicants, homeschoolers have a great amount of flexibility in structuring their entire application, including their transcripts and course descriptions. The beauty of this is that it allows you to be creative. You have an opportunity to develop a resume that not only details your academic and extracurricular achievements, but also showcases your personality. For this reason I've decided not to provide a sample resume specific to homeschoolers.

Search the web for examples or templates of homeschooled college applicant resumes and you'll be overwhelmed with the resources you'll find. Most of these sites make suggestions on what to include in a resume and how best to format it, but it is rare to come across an actual homeschooler's resume. Additionally, because the application requirements are constantly changing, I've found that much of the information out there is out-of-date. For example, one site advised that your resume include details of your parents' educational backgrounds and work histories! This is completely unnecessary. 

Therefore, and in an attempt to save you much valuable time, I've provided links to several sites that I have found to be up-to-date and accurate. These sites should give you the basics on what MUST be included in your resume, as well as provide you with ideas on how to showcase your personality and uniqueness. And by all means, reference the resume samples of publically and privately schooled high schoolers, as well. There's absolutely no reason not to use them as a template, reference or guide for your resume.
